I love the atmosphere and the staff. Cozy, warm and very welcoming. Staff and the brick and mortor both. The food was seasoned perfectly. Downside: the sushi rolls were small, my vegetables were shrunken and over cooked. In my chicken yakisoba noodles, the chicken was dry and chewy and the noodles a little off But the flavor was spot on. I read the history and the reviews of the restaurant and was fairly excited. I am sorry I had to give such a dismal report but I will definitely try it again as I try any restaurant twice to make sure I wasn't wrong. ***Update*** I took my son for his 17th birthday and every thing was perfect. The sushi was fresh and my dish was cooked perfectly. Always friendly service and I am so glad I tried it again. We all have our off days, yes? Thank you so much for the awesome food. I will be back!

Chairs are a bit uncomfortable but perhaps that is only a personal preference. Sushi was very good. Flavorful and well wrapped. Rolls came out quickly and drinks were refilled without having to ask. Edamame was crunchy and filled the time before the sushi arrived.

I got takeout on a weeknight during Covid-19 times. They were very accommodating and helped me make an order. Side salad with ginger dressing and miso soup were very good. Sushi was very good as well, raw seemed very fresh and eel was very tasty. I’ll be back!
I placed an order here and let me tell you the food and staff were amazing! I called in and the person on the phone was extremely nice and helpful on things I wanted and also gave me wonderful recommendations. They were really on point from when I called and when I needed by order by. Upon arrival, everyone greeted me and was really friendly. I had to wait a bit because it was busy but I just sat down at the bar and also had a drink. The person who served me was really nice. My platter was ready so I just finished my drink and paid. I was really excited about my platter I had ordered. Everything looked so good and fresh! It was too pretty to eat! The sushi was amazing! The quality was fresh and the presentation of it all was excellent. They gave me the perfect amount of wasabi, soy sauce, and ginger as well. Most restaurants skimp you out of those things but I was given more than enough! Chopsticks were also in the bag which is a plus because some places forget these little important items. I really enjoyed the food and the customer service that everyone gave me. Everywhere is short staffed in general but south main did an amazing job from when I called and picked up my order. I will definitely be returning! If you are looking for a good sushi spot make sure you go here you don't want to miss out on this gem!
We were traveling thru Memphis today and decided on sushi to go for dinner. A quick search turned up South Main Sushi. We ordered the Fin roll, Flower roll, Soft Shell Crab roll, and chicken fried rice. All 4 were excellent. The Flower roll is probably the best sushi I have had to date. I can't speak to their service for a dine in experience, but the service we recieved while ordering over the phone and picking up our order was polite and quick. This will definitely become our go to place for sushi when we travel through the area!
